Joe Allen, stalwart of the club for 50 years, sadly passed away on Sunday May 3rd, 2009
Joe held many roles in the club over his long carreer but his proudest role was as Club President from 1984 to 1992 and again from 1996 to 2004. . Joe was a top order batsman and off spin bowler and held the club batting record for nearly 30 years until it was broken in the 1990's. When Joe gave up cricket he became an integral part of Bedhampton Bowling Club but he still found the time to come to the cricket and indulge his favourite pastime of flirting with the ladies. Joe will be sadly missed by all that knew him but he will forever remain a legend at Bedhampton Mariners Cricket Club.
Joe Allen's funeral will be held at Portchester Crematorium on Tuesday, 19th May at 1pm, club members are welcome to attend. Joe's family have kindly invited anyone who has an association with the club to join them after the funeral at Langstone Conservative Club, Denvilles House, 33 Emsworth Rd, Havant, PO9 2SN.
The club will be supplying a floral tribute and there will be a collection amongst club members over the next two weeks, proceeds will be donated to the Rowans Hospice as specified by Joe's family.
If you would like to enter some words of condolence, have some memories or a story about Joe's playing career at BMCC please visit the "Memories of Joe Allen Page" on the Website

EXCITING NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH WIDBROOK UTD FC
Bedhampton Cricket Club have negotiated an exciting new partnership agreement with Widbrook Utd FC and Havant Borough Council. Widbrook Utd FC will be consolidating all of it's activities at Bidbury Mead and will be sharing the facilities with the Cricket Club. Widbrook Utd FC have already achieved FA Charter Standard at youth and senior levels and cater for youth and woman's football from age 6 upwards. With a long term lease on offer for the ground and facilities it's gives both clubs the security to attract grant funding to improve the playing area and the existing pavilion. The Cricket Club have put plans in place to take advantage of Widbrook's extensive playing membership and will hopefully be in a position to offer youth and women's competitive cricket from 2010. www.widbrookutd.co.uk
NEW SPONSORSHIP DEAL ANOUNCED
The club has attracted a major sponsorship deal for the 2008 season with local flooring contractors, Smith Brothers Marine Ltd who are based in Fareham. Smith Brothers Marine Ltd have had a long association with the club but felt the time was right to offer the club an exclusive deal. The company's name will appear on the club's shirts and there will be advertising at the ground on match days. The deal allows the club a degree of financial freedom to improve the facilities at the ground, which will hopefully attract quality players to the club. Everyone at the club is delighted with the new deal and thanks must go to Pete McIntyre for his tireless work in sealing the deal on the clubs behalf.
